Fiat 595 Abarth – The Little Naughty One

As Bad as Me?

I guess I identify  a bit with my Fiat 500 Abarth, that I have been driving for years: it’s tiny, loud, doesn’t go unnoticed and – let’s face it – in the era of electric cars is not completely politically correct. So when I was asked to test the new Fiat 595 Abarth Competizione, I immediately  said yes because I wanted to know how “my” car has evolved. It can’t be that different, I thought. And of course I was wrong.

The Best

It is precisely the same car, and yet everything looks and feels better. It was like waking up in exactly the same body, but 25 years younger. Every detail improved. The sound (Beats sound system) is next level: finally I can rap in Italian with my voice covered up by crystal clear Jovanotti songs on the loud speakers. The alcantara interiors: softer and more luxurious. The roar of the Record Monza exhaust: otherwise nobody turns heads. The matt blue color:  standing out while remaining classic.

The Worst

My husband complained that sport mode switches off every time the car stops. I think men are fussy and I don’t particularly care. But yes, that didn’t happen in my old 500 Abarth.

Hand on my Heart

I prefer the Fiat 595 Abarth Competizione to the electric version. It’s fun, it’s my style, it’s perfect for a petrol head. Overall, I remain a real 500 groupie and like almost all versions (including the vintage ones). It’s hard to beat their design and I love how people react to them. Right now the 595 Abarth Competizione is my favorite. But like with every love, the latest is always the best one!
