Wonderland with the Glacier Express
From St.Moritz to Davos/Zermatt, the Glacier Express is known as the slowest express in the world.
Nobody stares at his/her phone anymore, when traveling the marvelous route of beautiful mountains, tunnels and natural landscapes in the completely see-through wagons. Looking outside is simply inevitable. WOW and OOH are also heard, especially during the trip highlights:
- St. Moritz
- The alpine village of Zermatt with breathtaking views of the Matterhorn (the most photographed Swiss place)
- The Albula Line with the Solis and Landwasser viaducts and spiral tunnels
- The Rhine Gorge, the “Grand Canyon of Switzerland”
- Oberalp Pass
Bucket List
The Glacier Express had been on my bucket list for a long time, when Geri invited me. I asked my daughter to watch our newly arrived puppy, Simba, and off I went. We had lunch in the sun and were almost too hot, since the train is mostly made of glass. Photos stop overs were included in the fun. We went from Chur to Andermatt and stayed two and a half hours, which are already good to enjoy some of the most stunning views. Alternatively, one can also stay overnight. A fantastic idea for a romantic gift, or for someone who loves traveling.
